2. Me, in a nutshell
My name is Annie, and I’m 15 years old. I’m the only child in my family, so I feel lonely sometimes. I like to play sports, go online, listen to music, and play some music instruments in my spare time. I like school also, because I get to meet new friends and learn new things everyday. That makes my day flies by. I involve in school activities, such as join in sport teams, and to be a leader of some clubs. I try hard to achieve good grades. I also put in lots of effort, and try my best on everything. I’m a very active person, and people say that I’m funny sometimes. I always like to make new friends, be nice and get along with them.
3. When I was small
As you know, I was born in Vietnam. I was a big baby as my mother told me, and I didn’t have much hair until I got older. Since I was the only child, I like to invite friends to my house to play with me, so I won’t get bored. Also, my parents sent me to Chinese classes when I was 2 years old. I remembered that the teacher didn’t let me in, but since my mother said that it didn’t matter if I learned a lot, she let me attended the class. I like to learn since I was little. I wrote lots of words in little notebooks, which no one understood. I found that was funny when I grew up.
4. My early childhood
I moved to the U.S 3 years ago when I was 12. I found things very different here, and I was hard for me to learn a new language. I tried really hard to get used to the environment and school. I also made my parents proud about me, because I had been received many awards from school in different subjects, such as math, ESL, science, etc… I even got in the top 10 list in school. I was really happy. The unusual thing about me was that I am Chinese, but I was born in Vietnam, so sometimes I wasn’t sure what should I tell people about me, Chinese or Vietnamese? This wasn’t a bad though, because I got fluent with 3 languages, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Vietnamese. I like to learn new languages, because they are fun, and I got to learn new cultures. So that I could meet new friends from all over the world.

7. What I’m proud of
I proud of myself in many things. I didn’t know that I could learn English that fast. On top of that, I got good grades in school, so my parents could also be proud of me. Out side school, I participated in many community services. I remembered last year, we had a fund raising for the homeless people in Asian Club. I was happy about it because I knew it we could help many people by doing it. Also, last but not least, I am always helping people when they need me.
8. What I believe in
I believe in facts, not on vague information or superstitious. I do things that I think is right and not going to hurt anyone. I listen and respect others people’ beliefs.
9. What I do in my free time
I like to play music instrument, talk on the phone with friends, surf on the internet, hang out with friends and play sports. Actually, I don’t have much free time because of school work and after school activities. I also work, so there were little that I can do in my free time. If I have an afternoon to spend as I like, I will go shopping, or to a movie with friends, then go home relax and play some instrument.
10. My personality
My friends said that I’m nice and easy going out side of school, but about things that involve in school work, then I am a bossy person. That was their opinions. For myself, I think I’m an easy going person. I will be nice to everyone if they are nice to me. Other wise, I will just ignore them, or just not talking to them at all. I am responsible for everything that others assign to me, and try my best to do well on the job. I listen to others opinions, and accept them if I think they are good. I never be tray my friends, or gossip about their personal stuff. I know that is not nice at all. I am a funny person sometimes. I know when I should be serious and when I can be relax and have fun.
11. Heroes or Heroines
I admire my mommy, because she is a great woman, and also a great mom. She never gave up on anything, and always tries hard on her job. When she came to the U.S, she didn’t know any English, but she didn’t feel bad about it. She attended school and now she is pretty good with the language. On top of that, she took care of the family really well, keeps the house clean and she is a great cook. Even though mommy is busy all the time, but she always makes sure that I’m doing good at school, she always has time for me to talk to or to get help from. She is the greatest mom ever.
12. Pet peeves
I hate annoying people, I just can’t stand them. I also don’t like when people say things behind my back. That is just not nice. Also, I can’t stand when people whisper to each others and laugh in front of me. It just seem like they are talking about me.
13. What’s hot and what’s not in my life
- 3 things that are great about my life are 1) to go on vacation with family. 2) To get good grades in school. 3) To have a best friend to talk to all the times.
- 3 things that are not so great are 1) struggling with school works. 2) Seems not to have enough times for everything, school, work, social life… 3) I can’t drive yet.
14. The inside me vs. the outside me
I am an outspoken person. I tell people if I like or dislike something. I am also an easy going person, depend on different situation. If anything comes to me about school, then I become a strict person and expect everything to be the best. That is the outside me. People always think that I am strong, and can handle everything. But the inside me is pretty weak. I get emotional sometimes, but I don’t tell every one about it, only to someone I trust and understand me. If I need to choose a symbol for myself, I think I will choose a piano, because it can perform different songs whether they are relax, or strong. That can represents both inside and outside of me in different situations.
15. The future .
My "goal" is to attend a good college, and get a job that I like. I am working in an orthodontist office right now, and I am thinking about if I want to be one. The job gives me good experiences about an orthodontist’s life and I can ask how can I get to be one, how long will it take and so on. On the other hand, I also like computer and technology, so I am taking YTE classes in MHS. I want to get to know more about computer, web designs, and more about the background information. I want to get myself up to date, so I can make my choice later on. I like people to perceive me as who I am, and try to help me when I need help. I also want different people’ opinions so that I can improve on my weaknesses.
